Where did it all start?
It all started at
Overs on one ordinary Thursday evening. Debate auditions were held in order to find the 4th member of
delegation. Mark John Burke decided to launch this idea, because of a request he
recieved from Tebogo Mogorosi. Tebogo contacted Mark, because he wanted the PUK
to get involed in British Parliamentary Debating. They roped in Marius Viktor and discovered
Michelle Groenewald at the auditions and so the PUK Debate Society was born.
Vision |
|
To be a home for students of the North West University where critical thinking and open discourse are actively engaged in. A place where people of every race and religion, every creed and colour, inclusive of all political beliefs and sexual orientations-are truly welcomed. We envision the society to be the inspiration for authentic student leadership with an absolute refusal to consent through silence.
Mission
To allow students of this society to become active global citizens, thinking wider than the four corners of Potchefstroom. To equip members with the skills necessary to be impassioned contributors of a diverse South Africa. To ensure through the Art of Persuasion, that mediocrity is never accepted and that apathy is never approved.
